TERMS AND CONDITIONS

PRICE

All prices are stated in U.S. dollars, as this is the most commonly used currency by Peruvian banks and within the tourism sector. Payments can be made in other currencies; however, the USD price is always the base and binding amount. The final amount paid may vary due to exchange rate fluctuations, especially for the second payment.

Prices are based on Peru’s Services Export Laws, which allow tourists to be exempt from certain value-added taxes. This exemption can significantly reduce the total cost. It is only valid for temporary stays of less than 60 days in Peru and must be proven to the Peruvian Tax Authority. For this reason, we require a copy or clear photo of each traveler’s passport, along with a form indicating the Date of Entry into Peru (which we will provide).

Please ensure that passport copies are sent before the trip. If not received on time, we will be required to charge the applicable sales tax (Late Charge). If your entry date does not match the first day of the itinerary, or if part of your group does not comply with these conditions, please inform TIKAS PERU prior to booking.

Payment

Domestic flight(s) must be paid 100% in advance upon confirmation of your reservation. Without this payment, we cannot proceed with booking the flight(s).

You may book domestic flights independently; in this case, the prepayment requirement does not apply. Please note that TIKAS PERU cannot assist with any issues related to flights not booked through us.

The remaining balance of the trip must be paid at least 35 days before arrival. The USD price prevails; if exchange rates fluctuate significantly, the outstanding balance may change if paying in another currency.

Tickets that need to be secured well in advance (such as Machu Picchu or Inca Trail permits) must also be paid 100% in advance upon confirmation. You may choose to wait until 35 days prior to arrival, but availability is limited and tickets often sell out quickly. Your trip designer will advise you accordingly.

Not Included

Items not specifically listed as included are not covered. These generally include international flights, early check-ins or late check-outs (unless stated otherwise), souvenirs, laundry, tips, insurance, personal expenses, and services marked as optional or “Your Cost.” Optional excursions must be booked in advance with TIKAS PERU.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel your reservation, certain non-recoverable costs apply. We appreciate your understanding. The cancellation conditions are as follows:

30 days or more before arrival: TIKAS PERU charges 0% of the total amount (excluding flights). Flights booked through us will be canceled or postponed according to the airline’s conditions. Additional charges may apply and are beyond our control. The same applies to other pre-purchased tickets (e.g., Machu Picchu or Inca Trail).

29–16 days before arrival: 15% of the total amount (excluding flights).

15–5 days before arrival: 30% of the total amount (excluding flights).

4–3 days before arrival: 50% of the total amount (excluding flights).

Within 48 hours prior to arrival in Peru: 90% of the total amount (excluding flights).

Certain services, such as Inca Trail permits, may be non-refundable and not covered by the above conditions. We will inform you clearly about any such exceptions.

COMMUNICATION DURING YOUR TRIP

For custom itineraries longer than six days, TIKAS PERU will create a private WhatsApp group to ensure smooth communication throughout your trip. Wi-Fi is widely available in Peru, including buses, hotels, restaurants, and many public spaces.

When accompanied by our guides or drivers, or while staying in hotels or homestays, we will always have a way to reach you. In emergencies, locals can often assist with phone access or mobile hotspots.

We recommend keeping your phone in airplane mode and using Wi-Fi only. Receiving calls or using mobile data on foreign plans can be very expensive. Apps such as WhatsApp are the best option to stay in touch with family and friends. This communication service does not apply to excursions not booked through TIKAS PERU.

INSURANCE

TIKAS PERU strongly recommends that all travelers obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering mountain activities. Ideally, the insurance should also include coverage for theft, social unrest, natural disasters, and COVID-related expenses.

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES

Prices for flights or trains cannot be guaranteed until reservations are confirmed with full passenger details and initial payment. Availability and prices may change quickly.

Entrance fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Prices are subject to change and rates are not valid during national or religious holidays.

Once you book, TIKAS PERU will confirm the final and correct price before any payment is made.

In cases of force majeure or unforeseen events (including accidents, strikes, weather conditions, natural disasters, political situations, health issues, or visa problems), TIKAS PERU may modify or cancel services as necessary. We will always strive to continue your trip as planned and provide refunds according to the policies of our service providers. Any additional costs must be covered by the traveler or their insurance.

Travelers are responsible for informing us in advance of any medical or personal conditions that could affect the trip. While TIKAS PERU cannot be held liable for unforeseen events, we will always assist wherever possible.

For custom itineraries, you will receive all final trip details digitally approximately two weeks before departure, including schedules and guide information. We do not issue vouchers, as they are not required.
